CHARLOTTE, N.C.The No. 10 Limestone men's lacrosse team won its eighth consecutive Deep South Conference title with a 14-9 win over Queens on Sunday at Memorial Stadium. The championship win is the ninth time overall Limestone (11-5 overall) has won a conference championship in lacrosse. Limestone took a 5-2 lead in the first quarter and built an 8-3 advantage over Queens heading in to the second half. Limestone continued to dominate, scoring six goals in the third quarter to put the score at 14-6. The Saints didnt score in the final period, while the Royals managed three goals. Brad Patridge (Dublin, Ohio) led the Saints with four goals, while Drew Comeau (Red Deer, Alberta, Canada) had three. Harley Beekman (Amsterdam, N.Y.) scored a pair while Alex Callihan (Centreville, Md.), Ryan Verrilli (Manassas, Va.), Brad Stetler (Syracuse, N.Y.), Ryan Collins (Black River, N.Y.) and (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada) also had goals. Callihan, Comeau, Patridge, Collins, Bell and Greg Kackinko (Alpharetta, Ga.) tallied assists. Goalkeeper Marty Ward (Syracuse, N.Y.) had 15 saves. Limestone travels to Annapolis, Md., to play No. 4 Mercyhurst at noon on May 7 at Broadneck High School. |
