Limestone Defeats Pfeiffer on Last Day of DSC Play

GAFFNEY, S.C.—The Limestone College men’s lacrosse team flew by the visiting Pfeiffer Falcons with an 11-3 win on Saturday. Limestone climbs to 8-5 overall (7-2 Deep South Conference) while Pfeiffer stands at 3-9 overall (3-6 DSC).

It was also Senior Day for Limestone, as the team recognized Pat Beall, Harley Beekman, Grey Campbell, Ryan Demorest, Mike Freudiger, Brad Patridge, and Drew Walters.

Brad Patridge (Dublin, Ohio) and Ryan Verrilli (Manassas, Va.) gave Limestone the 2-0 lead in the first period.

In the second period, Harley Beekman (Amsterdam, N.Y.) scored off the opening face-off for the 3-0 lead. Alexander Daskalow put the Falcons on the board off a pass from Tyler Merrimac for the 4-1 score entering halftime.

In the third, Beekman scored his second goal of the game, followed by Verrilli’s second goal. Patridge went on to score two goals in a row to put the score at 7-1. Scott Bailey (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) scored off a pass from Greg Kacinko (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Brock Spilker (Pasadena, Md.) had a goal with Beall picking up the assist. Falcon Eddie Gourley scored with 17 second left to put the score at 10-2 at the end of the third quarter.

The Saints had one more goal in the final period, as Brian Zagardo (Westbury, N.Y.) scored his first collegiate goal off a pass from Spilker.

For the game, Pfeiffer goalkeeper Chip Baucom posted 30 saves as he faced 55 shots from the Saints.

Limestone competes in the first round of the Deep South Conference tournament on April 18. Location and time will be announced.
