Presbyterian 25, Presbyterian 2 The Knights, who remain perfect in the DSC at 2-0, improved to 2-4 overall. The Blue Hose fell to 2-4 overall and 1-4 in the conference. Presbyterian jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead with a sophomore Tim Cassios (St. Albert, Alberta, Canada) goal on a freshman Matt Christ (Cary, NC) assist only 1:11 into the contest. However, St. Andrews scored the next seven goals of the first quarter to take control. Freshman Max Kalkstein (Mystic, CT) capped the run with two straight goals including a man-down tally. Freshman Billy Rinaldi (Birmingham, AL) scored the Blue Hose final goal in the last minute of the first frame to cut the deficit to 7-2 after 15 minutes. SAPC scored eight goals in the second, seven in the third, and three in the fourth to cruise to the 23-goal victory. The Knights dominated the shot attempts (57-16), groundballs (72-38), and face offs (19-of-30). Junior Dan Hartzell (Lacombe, Alberta, Canada) and freshman Zachary Miller (Middletown, DE) led the Knights attack with four goals and two assists apiece. Kalkstein finished with a hat trick and one assist. Hartzell has a team-high 13 goals. Senior Bryan Riddell (Oshawa, Ontario, Canada) and juniors Drew Howell (St. Albert, Alberta, Canada), Zach Mryncza (Baltimore, MD) and Dalen Crouse (St. Albert, Alberta, Canada) all posted two goals apiece. Mryncza, who added a helper, increased his team-high point total to 22. Howell supplied two assists and Crouse had one. Junior Sean Todd (Union Bridge, MD), freshman Marcus Kirby (Greensboro, NC) and freshman Phil Hardy (Cincinnati, OH) each recorded their first goals of the season. Kirby scored two and was credited for the game-winning goal. Todd also had an assist. Senior Pat Fitzgerald (Baltimore, MD) and freshman Keenan Stout (Potomac Falls, VA) both had a goal and an assist. Freshmen John Osterritter (Arnold, MD), Ryan Ebey (Wading-River, NY) and Kyle Loda (Vienna, VA) chipped in with an assist apiece. Freshman Ethan Young (Hilliard, OH) won 18-of-28 face offs and scooped up a game-high 14 groundballs. Freshman Steve Hartley (Hilliard, OH) earned his first collegiate victory in net making three saves in the first half. Freshman Nate Hull (Millersville, MD) stopped all five shots on goal in the second half for SAPC. Blue Hose netminder David Hetu (Apex, NC) had a game-high 20 stops. St. Andrews travels to DSC newcomer Belmont Abbey on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. while Presbyterian entertains the Crusaders on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Dowling 13, Limestone 7 The North-South Sportsmanship Cup is a series between Dowling and Limestone that began in 1996 and ran through 2000. The Saints and Lions did not face each other from 2001-2003. The competition was renewed in 2004, and the Saints have now won the trophy six of the eight years of the contest. Dowling's only other win in the series came in 1998. Limestone plays Adelphi on Sunday, March 19 at 2 p.m. at St. Pauls High School in Brooklandville, Md. Wingate 15, Saint Leo 7 With the victory, Wingate improves to 4-1 overall on the young season. Saint Leo falls to 2-5 overall. The Bulldogs host Molloy (N.Y.) College Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. The Monarchs return home to entertain SUNY Plattsburg Monday at 4 p.m. The number 10 team in the latest NCAA Division II poll, Wingate broke a 6-6 tie with nine unanswered goals to take the victory. The hosts led 6-5 after three quarters of play. The Bulldogs received a three-minute stick penalty to start the fourth quarter. The Monarchs tied the game at 6-6 to take advantage of the extra-man opportunity. Wingate scored two goals a man down to take control. Bulldog junior attack Bryan Safarik (Vancouver, British Columbia) had four goals and two assists during Wingates 9-0 run. Safarik finished the day with five goals and two assists. Freshman attack Dan Leber (Orlando, Fla.) supported Safariks effort with two goals and two assists of his own for the Bulldogs. For Saint Leo, junior attack Ryan Harris (Vestal, N.Y.) had three goals and two assists to lead the Monarchs. Freshman midfielder Mark Dargon (Newton, Mass.) added two goals for Saint Leo. Bryant 19, Catawba 6 Catawba trailed 6-1 after a quarter and by an 8-2 count at the break. Freshman Mark Van Hoever led the Tribe with a pair of goals and an assists, while Ryan Greaves also had two goals. Matt Riley had a goal and an assist.
