The Limestone College mens lacrosse team was picked No. 4 in Inside Lacrosses 2006 preseason poll released on February 6. LeMoyne topped the list at No. 1, with C.W. Post and defending NCAA National Champion New York Tech rounding out the top 3. The Limestone men's lacrosse team earned a No. 4 national ranking in Lacrosse Magazine's 2006 preseason poll in December. The Saints return 21 letterwinners and four starters from the 2005 team, which includes two All-Americans. A strong core of veteran players include goalkeeper Marty Ward (Syracuse, N.Y.), defenders Sean McQuin (Mt. Airy, Md.) and Matt Pinder (Centreville, Md.), and midfielders Brad Patridge (Powell, Ohio) and Harley Beekman (Amsterdam, N.Y.). These veterans and new recruits will continue to make Limestone a force to be reckoned with on the national scene. The Saints had four players earn preseason All-American honors: Patridge was a First-Team honoree, Pinder and Ward were named to the Second-Team, and Beekman received Honorable Mention. The men's lacrosse team capped off its successful 2005 season its sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA national championship game. The Saints finished the year with a 15-2 record and were undefeated in the Deep South Conference (7-0), winning Limestone's seventh straight conference title. The Saints will begin their season on Friday, February 17 when they travel to Clinton, S.C., to play Presbyterian at 3 p.m. Division II Rankings February 6, 2006 For more information, visit www.insidelacrosse.com. |
