Mars Hill Lacrosse Loses to #4 Mercyhurst

Erie, PA – The Mercyhurst College men's lacrosse team got goals from 10 different players and seven goals from Mike McLellan (Toronto, Ont.) as they cruised past visiting Mars Hill College in the second half of Saturday's match, winning 20-4. The Lakers started out slow again, leading 10-4 at halftime but scored 10 unanswered goals in the second stanza to pick up their third win of the season.

McLellan also had three assists on the afternoon for the 10-point game. Jason Lappies (Adams, N.Y.) and Troy Ledbetter (Cincinnati, Ohio) each put three balls in net. Mercyhurst netminder Mike Bringley (Rochester, N.Y.) only faced six shots on goal as the Lakers outshot the Lions 60-13.

Matthew DeCaire (Milton, Ontario) led Mars Hill with two goals on three shots. Matt Holthaus (Churchville, MD) had 25 saves between the pipes as the Lions fall to 0-5 on the season.

Mercyhurst will put its perfect 3-0 record on the line tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. when it entertains Lees-McRae at Tullio Field. MHC will play C.W. Post tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
