Mars Hill Falls to No. 2 Limestone, 28-2

Mars Hill, NC – The Lions' lacrosse team lost to visiting Limestone College (2-0/2-0) Saturday afternoon in Meares Stadium by a score of 28-2. Limestone is ranked second in the NCAA Division II national rankings.

The Saints (2-0/2-0) jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter and then extended that advantage to 14-1 heading into the intermission. Limestone came out in the third quarter and out scored the Lions 8-1 to lead 22-2 going into the final period. Limestone held MHC scoreless in the final stanza and added six additional goals to make the final tally, 28-2.

David Wooster (Annapolis, MD) led the Saints with five goals and three assists. Nolan Heavenor (Victoria, BC) followed with five goals and two assists. Brock Spilker (Pasadena, MD) added four goals and an assist in the win. Marty Ward (Syracuse, NY) made 11 saves in goal for the Saints.

Miles Robinson (Hicksville, NY) and Matthew DeCaire (Milton, Ont.) scored the Lions' two goals. Matt Holthaus (Churchville, MD) made 16 saves in goal for MHC.

MHC will host Notre Dame de Namur on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
