Mars Hill Loses at Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, NC - The Mars Hill Lions' lacrosse team lost at Deep South Conference rival Pfeiffer University on Saturday afternoon by a score of 15-3.

MHC fell to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the DSC. Pfeiffer improved to 4-6 overall and 3-2 in league action.

MHC trailed the Falcons 5-1 after the first frame and 7-1 at the intermission. Pfeiffer then scored four unanswered goals in the third stanza to lead 11-1 going into the last quarter. The Lions scored two goals in the final period but the damage was already done. The Falcons added four more goals in the last quarter to make the final score 15-3.

Erik Kostek led Pfeiffer with five goals and two assists followed by Trevor Krauss with four goals. Brian Palmer played the majority of minutes for the Falcons in the net making four saves and allowing only a single goal.

Andrew Chapman (Toronto, Ontario), Sean Humphries (Philadelphia, PA), and Connor Jardeleza (Burtonsville, MD) each scored a single goal in the loss. Matt Holthaus (Bel Air, MD) once again played extremely well in goal for Mars Hill making 35 saves facing 65 shots (50 on goal).

The Lions will host Catawba College on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Meares Stadium. Game time is set for a 7:00 p.m. start.
