Mars Hill Defeats Queens in Monday DSC Lacrosse Play

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Lions' lacrosse team defeated Deep South Conference (DSC) rival Queens University 6-4 on Monday afternoon. Andrew Chapman (Toronto, Ontario) scored three of MHC's goals including the game winner to lead the Lions to victory.

MHC improved to 2-7 overall and 1-4 in the league. Queens dropped to 2-9 on the season and 0-5 in the DSC with the loss.

The score was tied at 1-1 after the first quarter and then Chapman scored three unanswered goals in the second frame to give the Lions a 4-1 lead they would not relinquish.

Queens added a single goal in the third and then both squads scored two goals apiece in the last stanza to make the final score 6-4 in favor of the Lions.

Following Chapman's performance, was David Woodlief (Richmond, VA) who played extremely well scoring the Lions first and last goals in the game and provided the assist on Chapman's second goal. Sean Humphreys (Philadelphia, PA) scored MHC's fifth goal and Chance LeBron (Wake Forest, NC) supplied his teammates with two assists in the victory. Matt Holthaus (Bel Air, MD) played extremely well in goal for the Lions making 26 saves facing 41 shots and allowing only four goals.

MHC will play at Pfeiffer University on Saturday afternoon. Game time is set for a 2:00 p.m.
