Saints Improve to 6-0 Overall With DSC Win Over Bulldogs

Gaffney, S.C.----The Limestone College men’s lacrosse team (6-0 overall) improved to 3-0 in the Deep South Conference with a 21-8 win over Wingate University on Saturday.

The Bulldogs (1-6 overall, 0-3 DSC) came out firing and led 2-1 with five minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Saints responded with 12 unanswered goals and pulled away. Wingate again showed their mettle in the fourth quarter as they put four goals on the board, but the Saints continued their offensive onslaught and netted five in the fourth frame.

Limestone’s Nolan Heavenor had an outstanding day, netting six goals and assisting on four. David Wooster scored three times and dished out two assists. Roger Vyse scored four goals, while Robert Woody added three of his own. Blake Taylor netted three goals for Wingate, while Matt DiMartino and John Martin scored two goals each.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday, April 3, as they travel to Laurinburg, N.C., to take on St. Andrews Presbyterian College at 2 p.m. The game features two teams that are undefeated in the Deep South Conference. Wingate returns home to face Queens University of Charlotte Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.


St. Andrews Posts 16-8 Victory Over Mars Hill

MARS HILL, NC – The Lions (0-2/1-5) lost to Deep South Conference (DSC) rival St. Andrews Presbyterian College (5-0/6-4) this afternoon in Meares Stadium, 16-8. Zach Mryncza (Baltimore, MD) scored seven points (3 G; 4 A) in the game to lead SAPC to victory.

The Knights led 6-2 after the first quarter and went into the locker room at halftime up 9-3. SAPC out scored MHC 5-1 in the third quarter to lead 14-4 heading into the final period of play. MHC won the last stanza out scoring SAPC 4-2 to make the final score 16-8.

SAPC out shot MHC 57-to-37. MHC goalie Matt Holthaus (Bel Air, MD) played all 60 minutes in goal making 24 saves facing 40 shots on goal. Kevin Woods (Setauket, NY) also posted a complete game in the net for SAPC making 15 saves facing 23 shots on goal.

Dalen Crouse (St. Albert, Alberta, Canada) followed Mryncza with four goals and two assists in the victory. Drew Howell (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) scored three goals in the contest.

Sean Humphries (Philadelphia, PA) led MHC scoring three goals and making one assist in the loss. Connor Jardeleza (Burtonsville, MD) and Andrew Chapman (Toronto, Ontario) each scored two goals in the game.

The Lions will play at DSC foe Lees-McRae College on March 31 at 7:00 p.m. St. Andrews will play at DSC rival Catawba College on March 31 at 3:30 p.m.
